How to read the score
18 out of 36 is generally treated as the minimum and 24 and above as a good match. But a raw number is the least useful part of the output. Nadi alone carries 8 points, so two charts sharing a nadi lose nearly a quarter of the total on one koota — which is why a score of 17 can mean something very different from another score of 17.
Classical texts give explicit exceptions that cancel both Nadi and Bhakoot dosha — same nakshatra, same rashi, and specific rashi-lord relationships among them. A matching report that gives you a number without checking those exceptions has done half the job. Astroly's calculation applies them and says which one fired.
What guna milan does not cover
Ashtakoot is a Moon-based comparison. It does not examine Mangal Dosha, the 7th house or its lord, the navamsa, or the dasha periods either person is running — all of which a thorough traditional reading would check.
