A note on reading these numbers:
Numerology reduces letters and dates to a single root digit (1–9, with 11, 22, 33 as master numbers left unreduced). Use the life-path and destiny together — one tells you what path you're walking, the other tells you what you're here to build. Don't take any single number too literally; they're a lens, not a verdict.

Two families of numbers

Ank jyotish works with two groups, and mixing them up causes most of the disagreement between calculators.

The date numbers are fixed for life. Mulank reduces your day of birth alone and is read as your visible manner. Bhagyank reduces your entire date of birth and is read as the longer direction underneath it. Both map to a ruling graha — and it is really the planet doing the interpretive work, since Mulank 5 means Mercury and Bhagyank 8 means Saturn.

The name numbers come from letters, and unlike the date numbers they can change. Expression uses every letter, Soul Urge the vowels alone, and Personality the consonants — the last two being complementary halves that rebuild the first. Name-correction practice exists precisely because these are the adjustable ones.

The one number that moves

Every number above is fixed at birth. The Personal Year is the exception — it advances each January through a nine-year cycle, which makes it the number practitioners reach for when the question is when rather than what.

Two conventions worth knowing

Western numerology preserves the master numbers 11, 22 and 33 while ank jyotish reduces past them at the Mulank level. And calculators differ on whether Y counts as a vowel — the single most common reason two Soul Urge results disagree. Astroly follows the fixed A-E-I-O-U rule and says so.

Frequently asked questions

Do I use Mulank or Bhagyank for a reading?

Both, together. Mulank comes from the day of birth alone and describes outward manner; Bhagyank comes from the full date and describes the longer direction. A reading that uses only one is incomplete.

Which numerology system does Astroly use?

Chaldean letter values for the name numbers, which is what Indian numerology generally prefers, and the standard digit reduction for the date numbers. Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are preserved where the tradition preserves them. Each calculator states its own convention.

Can numerology numbers change?

The date numbers cannot. The name numbers can, because a name can change. The Personal Year changes every January by design.

Does numerology need my birth time?

No. Every numerology calculation here uses only a date or a name — no time, no place.
